Bible Memory

We are beginning to pursue memorizing verses as a congregation.  This should be a great thing for our body.  We are still working on some of the details, but here are some things for you to be aware of:

•Verses for each week should be in the bulletin.  Verses will be printed in the ESV.
•There are packets of cards printed and on the table in the foyer.  Please take 1 pack per family.  We will be adding to them as we go along.
•The cards are in order as they are printed.  We will try to have them numbered in the future.  If you haven’t already shuffled them, you may want to go ahead an number them consecutively.

This Week’s Verse:
(6.20.2010)
Psalm 100:4 Enter His gates  with  thanksgiving; (ESV)

AIDS TO HELP IN MEMORIZING SCRIPTURE

•Pray that God would write His Word on your heart.
•Review new verses each day that you are able during the week.
•Review old verses regularly
•Put your verse cards in a place where they are readily available.  (Kitchen, nightstand, etc.)
•Use the new verse as a tool for prayer each week.
•Repeat, repeat, repeat.
•Say the verses out loud.  Say the verses phrase by phrase.
•Talk about the meaning of the verse with others.
•Write the verse onto your own cards.
•If you are memorizing the verse with others, make sure each person works through the verse.
•Use songs or motions.
•Talk about how the verse applies to your current situation.
•Take the verses with you while you walk.
•••Don’t become discouraged if you struggle or forget verses.  We are in this for the long haul, and God will always use His Word.
